"Japanese Fishes" 2027 Wall Calendar

ABOUT THIS LISTING
This listing is for a 2027 wall calendar illustrated with 12 quirky and vibrant anthropomorphic watercolor fish paintings by Bryana Joy. This long calendar with a slim profile is designed to fit into narrow spaces without sacrificing space for note-taking and the display of eye-catching artwork. It measures 5.5 by 16.5 inches, and is printed on 250gsm coated silk paper and bound with a wire hanger. Each painting is accompanied by the common and Latin name of the fish species featured (with much creative license) in the artwork.

Inspired by a summer trip to Japan, this series was originally painted for the wonderful folks who support my work via Patreon. It was first released in zine format under the title "Exodus of the Fishes," where these paintings appeared alongside creative writing snippets about the habits and folklore associated with various Japanese fish species in the context of the current collapse of global fish populations.

It is my hope that these fanciful and sometimes off-the-wall paintings will serve to spark interest in the real-life fishes that inspired them and in the conservation efforts that give us hope for their continued existence.

Please note that this listing is for an illustrated calendar only, and does not include any of the original paintings for this series (some of which are shown in the listing photos just for fun).

NOTICE: Due to these calendars' irregular length and seasonal nature, I've arranged to have them ship directly to you from my printer rather than passing through my studio first. Everything else in my shop ships from me and is packaged and posted by me, so if your order contains a 2027 calendar AND another item, you'll receive it in two shipments: one from me, and one from my printer.
