ABOUT THIS LISTING
This listing is for an original miniature diorama box scene painted with professional-grade watercolors on 100% cotton Arches watercolor paper and assembled using archival-quality glue. The diorama box is made of carboard, covered with textured paper, and then painted a sunrise pink using velvety acryla gouache paint. With the lid closed, the box measures roughly 3.75 x 2.75 x 1.25 inches. This is not a print, but a one-of-a-kind original painted papercraft creation.

ABOUT THE PIECE
The earliest printed version of the old English Christmas carol "I Saw Three Ships" shows up in the 1600s, although the modern lyrics we know and love come from an 1833 version printed by antiquarian William Sandys. I love how geographically-goofy and nonsensical this song is, referring, for example, to ships "sailing" into landlocked Bethlehem. To me it feels like a cheerful and misty Christmas fever dream, and I tried to capture that aura in my final art piece of 2025—a tiny watercolor diorama box crafted from 28 individually hand-painted and hand-cut paper elements assembled together in a custom-painted box.
