"Ordinary People" Kickstarter Pre-launch

"Ordinary People" Kickstarter Pre-launch

Okay, ya'll. So I've never attempted a Kickstarter campaign before. It's a bit intimidating to me, to be honest. But I've got a project I want to make so bad and it's a massive time commitment. After bumping it forward on my calendar for about six months in favor of work that pays my bills more reliably, I've realized I just can't realistically get it done without some upfront funding, so I'm venturing into new territory and giving Kickstarter a go. The pre-launch page is live now, and will be linked in the comments so you can hit the button to be notified when the campaign starts later this month.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
In 2025, I created three intricate and complex accordion-folded paper theatre scenes in response to what I perceive as a crisis of empathy imperiling our planet. This art form, also known as a "tunnel book," achieved its peak of popularity in the Victorian era, but at a time when AI-generated imagery is undermining interest and trust in 2D artwork, I've found that this clearly-analog and handmade art form feels fresh and different, and engages people in meaningful ways.

I'm on a mission to create and exhibit more of these tunnel books in 2026, each one centered on the theme of Ordinary People as the drivers of social change and the custodians of humanity in a world that is so much more dangerous than the one I was born in. The success of this campaign will determine how soon I can move forward with this project and how many of these scenes I'm able to make.

If you'd like to see this project succeed, please click the "Notify me on launch" button over on the Kickstarter campaign page so you don't miss out on anything! Opportunities to support the project will start at $2 to include as many folks as possible, and higher support tiers will include a very limited number of opportunities to commission your *own* papercraft piece on the theme of "Ordinary People."

All the best,
Bryana
