SONGS FROM THE SEA
My first batch of intricate, hand-painted literary seascape pendants has just been launched! "Galadriel's Song" is inspired by two lines from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Fellowship of the Ring," and there are just a few remaining. These pieces are painted with many layers of professional-grade gouache on clay pendants a potter has created specifically for me. Each piece is thoroughly varnished, signed on the back, and shipped in an elegant little jewelry box with a silver-plated chain and unique pendant fittings. Shop the collection here. POETRY WORKSHOPS
Registration is now open for the April 2023 Poetry Workshop and you can sign up here. These workshops are intimate Zoom gatherings of three to five participants who meet for two hours weekly over the course of a month. My primary goal for our meetings is to create a welcoming environment where creators can be affirmed and challenged in the work of making and finding meaning, and can develop friendships over a shared love for the power and beauty of language. Bring your best writing and your favorite mug!
Former Workshop Participants Say
I returned to poetry through Bryana's workshops after a hiatus of almost a decade and found it so life-giving. The curriculum as well as the creative work and insights of the generous participants continue to stir and encourage me as I revisit my treasured binder of annotated papers. It was, however, Bryana's facilitation which made these workshops the warm memory they have become. True thoughtfulness and skill filled each communication I received and guided each Zoom call. I can't recommend this experience highly enough.

I can't recommend [Bryana's poetry workshops] highly enough. Her knowledge of poetry and her generosity and gentle critique have urged me forward in the craft. Also the fellowship with other growing poets. Do consider this experience!

Bryana does a wonderful job developing the skills necessary to create beautiful writing. The first time I shared my work with other writers was at one of her workshops. This experience took me from being terrified of anyone reading my work to confident enough to submit my writing to publications! I am so thankful for Bryana's investment and her desire to see her pupils flourish. I look forward to new workshops starting again so I can continue to be a part of the encouraging community she fosters. I am forever changed by this experience.
For me, 2022 has been a year of learning & experimentation. I've been tackling new paint mediums like gouache & acrylic gouache, and playing around with different surfaces, varnishes, & framing options. Here's a list of eight art supply items I've been enjoying this year—along with links so you can try them out yourself!
As the year draws to a close, I’m looking back over these twelve months to make a few notes about the books that have moved, challenged, charmed, or delighted me the most in 2022. Authors include Agatha Christie, Howard Thurman, bell hooks, Iris Murdoch, Dorothy Sayers, and others.
Gouache has been taking the online art world by storm since the pandemic hit, and it's honestly pretty confusing. First of all, how the HECK do you pronounce it? Also, how do you get started? In this article, I'll share some of the tips I wish I'd known when I picked up gouache last year, and let you know about the materials I've especially come to love.
